1986-1988 - Bernard T Rose

Born in London in 1929, Bernard Rose served his apprenticeship with a firm of mechanical services and general engineers in Norfolk, where he also completed his engineering studies. Following National Service with the Royal Air Force, he returned to London in 1954, and resumed studying at the National College of Heating, Ventilating, Refrigeration and Fan Engineering, leading to registration as a Chartered Engineer.

He joined J Roger Preston & Partners in 1955 and became a Partner in 1966. In 1970 the firm was appointed by the Department of Health and Social Security to prepare designs for particular Departments. Bernard Rose worked on various hospital projects across the globe, including Hong Kong, Ghana and Nigeria.

In 1985 he joined the Working Group set up to review the Institute’s future, and was elected as a Member of Council. He has also served on IHEEM's International Affairs Committee, Education Committee, and Finance and General Purposes Committee.
