On Thursday 30th November 2017 at Central Hall Westminster in London, IHEEM will be hosting a Seminar and Evening Reception under the theme: ‘Heritage, Innovation and The Membership Balance’.

The event will comprise of a free to attend Seminar in the afternoon which will feature a series of presentations by guest presenters. There will be a focus on the recently published Royal Academy of Engineering report: ‘Engineering Better Care – A Systems Approach to Health and Care Design and Continuous Improvement’, which IHEEM was involved in producing. In addition to this, there will be a series of presentations looking at innovation in the sector.

Following this, there will be an invitation only Evening Reception featuring the President’s Address and Awards Ceremony which marks the first 12 months of IHEEM President, Pete Sellars’ presidency and will be an opportunity to hear about the progress made on the President’s ‘Five Key Themes’ and future workstreams.

The achievements and contributions made towards the Institute will be celebrated with the IHEEM Awards Ceremony including the presentation of the Northcroft Silver Medal and Honorary Fellowships. There will also be a preview of the IHEEM 75th Anniversary Programme marking the Institute’s anniversary in 2018.

As part of event, there will be an exhibition area showcasing IHEEM Company Affiliate members enabling them to network and discuss opportunities with delegates.

Update on The President’s Five Key Themes by IHEEM President Pete Sellars CEng FIHEEM

  • ‘Heritage, Innovation and The Membership Balance’ – IHEEM President Pete Sellars, will provide an update on the progress of the ‘Five Key Themes’ which were launched in November 2016.
  • The session will look at the heritage of IHEEM and role that IHEEM has undertaken in the sector to serve its members and industry stakeholders.
  • Much work has been undertaken around apprentices over the past year and this will be reported upon.
  • New workstreams being developed by IHEEM will be highlighted including promoting diversity and encouraging more women into engineering and a focus on developing technicians for the sector.
  • A snapshot of the plans for the 75th Anniversary programme will also be introduced.

Evening speakers


The event is being held at Central Hall Westminster, Storey’s Gate, London, SW1H 9NH. The venue is located directly opposite Westminster Abbey and adjacent to the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. Central Hall is a Grade II listed building and is one of the largest conference and exhibition venues in central London. The historic venue has Europe’s largest self-supporting concrete dome celling.

The Seminar and Evening Reception (IHEEM President’s Address and Awards Ceremony) will be held in the Aldersgate Room which is located on the lower ground floor. The Drinks Reception and exhibition stands will be located in the adjacent Westminster Foyer.
